Chair Six is a free social app for skiers and snowboarders. It lets you track your runs with live GPS, share highlights with friends, browse 5,000+ resorts worldwide, and connect with the mountain community through a feed, forums, direct messaging, and more.

Yes, Chair Six is completely free with no ads, no subscriptions, and no in-app purchases. All features are available to every user.

Tap the green START button on the Track tab to begin recording. Chair Six tracks your speed, altitude, vertical feet, and route using your phone's GPS. A blue indicator appears in the status bar while tracking is active. Tracking continues when your phone is locked in your pocket. Tap STOP when you're done, then share your run with friends.

Only while you're actively tracking a run. When you press STOP or close the tracking session, GPS stops completely. We never track your location without your knowledge. A blue status bar indicator is always visible when location is being used.

Speed and vertical data are derived from your phone's GPS and are approximate. Accuracy depends on satellite reception, weather, and terrain. Chair Six uses a chairlift filter to exclude slow-speed lift rides from your run stats. Do not rely on this data for safety-critical decisions.

You control this in Privacy Settings. You can set your location visibility to Everyone, Followers, Friends Only, or Just Me (completely private). This controls who can see which resort you're at and your position on the trail map.

Go to Profile → Privacy Settings → Delete Account. You'll need to type your username to confirm. This permanently deletes your profile, messages, follows, and ski run data. Posts and comments you made will remain visible but are anonymized with "[deleted]" as the username.

Make sure you've granted Chair Six "While Using" location permission. Go to iPhone Settings → Chair Six → Location → While Using the App. Also check that Low Power Mode is off, as it can throttle GPS updates.

Check that notifications are enabled in both iPhone Settings → Chair Six → Notifications and within the app's notification settings. If you recently installed the app, try signing out and back in to refresh your push token.

Chair Six includes 5,000+ resorts from OpenStreetMap data. If your resort is missing, email us at support@chair-six.com with the resort name and location, and we'll add it.

Tap the three-dot menu (…) on any post, comment, or profile and select "Report." The content will be hidden from your feed immediately and our team will review it. You can also block users from the same menu.
